Full Details
VISA
Visa processing is quite straight forward for Thailand. You will need to submit the required documents through an authorized travel agent.
After submission you will most likely get two calls. One from the agency telling you that they successfully submitted the visa application and another one directly from the Thai embassy asking you about your travel plans and purposes. You MUST pick the call from the embassy. So be alerted after the agent submit your application.
It took one week to get our visa. We got single entry 3 months visa and the fee was 5400 bdt in 2023. The agency was ShareTrip.

Air Ticket
It is advisable to book tickets at least one month before you travel.
I booked my tickets through GoZayaan one and a half month prior to my travel date. We booked 4 flights in total.
We were two in number and for our trip I booked 2 Dhaka-Bangkok-Dhaka return tickets for 64,000 bdt (Each 32,000 bdt), 2 Bangkok-Phuket tickets for 9,000 bdt (Each 4,500 bdt) and 2 Krabi-Bangkok tickets for 10,700 (Each 5,350 bdt) in 2023.
Our Air Asia flight did not include any check in baggage, so we bought extra baggage later from their site. Make sure to book tickets which include Check-in baggage.
Hotel Booking
You'll need to book hotels before you travel. Maldives immigration officers sometimes asks for the hotel booking.
We booked our hotel via Booking.com, the prices are mentioned at the top of this page. Our hotel ratings are:
1. Kaani Palm Beach- 8.5/10
2. Lagoona Sunset- 7.5/10
3. Premier Beach- 8.5/10
4. Umet Seaview- 7/10

Currency

Maldives accepts both USD and their local currency rufiyaa. Also, almost everywhere they accept international cards. I'd say we paid 90% of our expenses using our VISA cards. (EBL & SCB)
Boats
If you want to travel to any island in Maldives you'll need to do it using boats. Generally, the hotel you book will offer you to add on boat rides. It's easier if you book it with your hotel. But you can also book one locally but you might have to wait a bit. Local ferries are also available but the waiting time will increase more.
From the Airport to Maafushi and later on to other islands, the average cost per person is 25$.

Maafushi

I highly recommend visiting Maafushi island first. It is a local island and you'll definitely feel the vacation vibe here with all the people from various parts of the world enjoying there.
We stayed at the Kaani Palm Beach Hotel and it was one of the finest hotels we've been to. From there we had probably the best view of the place. Also the infinity pool was definitely the best one at the island. Buffet breakfast was complementary there. Recommended!
Maafushi activities
Beautiful beaches, exciting sea activities & deep blue skies are the 3 things you'll notice immediately at Maafushi island.
Take the first day easy and roam around the island. You must visit:
i. Bikini Beach
ii. Maafushi in giant letters (Near the pier)
iii. Macaw near the iCom Hotel
iv. Park
v. Park near Triton Hotel
See the sunset from bikini beach and have a nice walk by the beach at evening.
The next day, go to the Shark Bay and Ship Wreck Tour. We took the tour from iCom Tours for 65$. You must add on drone photos and videos. For us they charged an additional 15$. You have to book this one day before.
This tour was EPIC! Must do activity.
Explore the night life of Maafushi and have some souvenir shopping from the local island. But I must warn you, they're not cheap!
If you stay another day, take a Parasailing ride. Drone photos and videos are included in this. It cost us 80$ for a 15 minutes ride and it was really fun! You can also do this activity on the first day if you like.

Gulhi

We saw the most beautiful beach at our stay in Gulhi. It's a beautiful little island. Not bustling like Maafushi, rather a quiet and peaceful island where you will enjoy serenity. We stayed here one night
It's a small island. may be a third of Maafushi. Hotels and restaurants are also limited here. But you enjoy this a lot. If you like peace and quiet then this is the place for you.
We stayed at a beautiful and cozy hotel called premier beach. It was right at the Bikini beach. We could literally go to the beach within a minute's walk.
At Gulhi there is nothing much to do but you enjoy the place differently, you'll enjoy the calmness of the place. A walk around the island will be very quick. A swim at the shallow waters of Gulhi is refreshing. And if you're lucky you'll see a storm passing it's way through you.
Overall we just loved Gulhi.
Male
A beautiful little city with a very well maintained traffic system. Male felt like a city that knows what it's doing. We didn't face any traffic jam, there were walkways everywhere, waking alone didn't feel unsafe and the city is very clean. What more can a tourist ask for!
We stayed at a hotel named Umet Seaview. The hotel had a nice view of the Sinamale bridge and the location was also good. The building was a little old but they managed to keep the rooms well maintained. It was a killer view if the city. Prices are mentioned at the top of this page. We stayed here for two nights.
A city walk is some we really enjoyed. We started walking by the sea-sidewalk and along the way we found a beautiful mosque, the King Salman mosque. We found a park with lots of pigeons. And near the pier, we found some souvenir shop.
Due to rain we couldn't visit the new part of Male, Hulhumale. But you can definitely plan a visit there.
If you are someone who likes cities, then you'll love the small and beautiful city of Male.

Food

The taste of food is very similar to our tastebud. We didn't have any problem with it at all.
At Maafushi we liked the Restaurant at iCom Hotel.
At Gulhi we liked Lavista. Try the seafood pasta there.
At Male we liked Soleil and The Manhatten Fish Market.
The food cost was approx. 10$ per person.
